Why Invest in a Professional Garage Floor Coating vs. DIY Solutions?
Many homeowners consider purchasing a DIY epoxy kit from a big-box store to coat their garage floors. While this may seem like a cost-effective solution, DIY coatings often fail to deliver the durability, longevity, and professional finish of a professionally installed coating.
Here’s why investing in a Millz House professional garage floor coating is the better choice:
1. Longevity & Durability
DIY Epoxy Kits: Typically wear down within a couple of years, leading to chipping, peeling, and reapplication costs.
Professional Coatings: Last decades, resisting stains, heavy traffic, and allows for easy clean up of spills.
2. Superior Adhesion & Surface Preparation
DIY Epoxy Kits: Usually involve minimal surface prep (often just an acid wash), leading to poor adhesion and peeling.
Millz House Process: We mechanically grind the surface to open the pores of the concrete, allowing for maximum adhesion and long-term durability.
3. Professional-Grade Materials
DIY Epoxy Kits: Contain lower-quality resins that may yellow, crack, or fade over time.
Millz House Coatings: We use industrial-grade polyurea and polyaspartic coatings, offering UV stability, chemical resistance, and enhanced durability.
4. Resistance to Chemical Spills
DIY Epoxy Kits: Vulnerable to oil stains, tire marks, and chemical spills.
Professional Coatings: Provide a non-porous, stain-resistant surface that protects against automotive fluids, salt, and household chemicals.
5. Faster & More Reliable Installation
DIY Epoxy Kits: Require several days of application and curing time, leaving the garage unusable.
Millz House Process: Our quick-curing, professional coatings installed by our own employees, allow for a 1-day installation, so you can use your garage faster!
6. Customization & Aesthetic Appeal
DIY Epoxy Kits: Limited color and flake choices, often resulting in an uneven, amateur finish.
Professional Coatings: We offer a wide range of standard premium colors, finishes, and flake blends with an option to customize to match your style and enhance your home’s appeal.
7. Warranty & Peace of Mind
DIY Epoxy Kits: No guarantees—if it fails, you have to reapply and spend more money.
Millz House Coatings: We back our professional coatings with a warranty, ensuring you get the best performance and value. See store for details.

It takes 1-3 days to install your floor, this depends on size and the time of year.
Typically, it is 72 hours before you can drive on it. For the first week, please drive straight in and out of your garage and do not sharply turn your tires. Also, some instances may require additional time. Talk to your sales person for details.
In most cases it is 24 hours before you can walk on it. However, some instances may require additional time. Talk to your sales person for details.
At Millzhouse, we don’t believe in tiered systems or upselling gimmicks. Unlike others, we don’t lure customers in with low-grade products, add-on top coats, or fluctuating warranties. Every floor we coat gets the same high-quality treatment—100% solid, commercial-grade materials—no compromises, no confusion. It’s all about giving you the best, every single time.
You will need to remove everything off the floor in the areas that you want coated and away from the stem walls if you are having the stem walls coated.
The vinyl flakes provide traction; however, anything can be slippery when wet. Be sure to clean up any water or spills immediately.
Epoxy is a general term for many types of floor coating materials. We use a commercial grade polyaspartic material.
The floor can be cleaned with just water and a squeegee. You can use a 1 to 1 vinegar and water solution. It can be rinsed with a hose and Squeegee to get the excess water out. For extra dirty areas, you can use a light cleaning solution like simple green. Avoid using oil based cleaners as it can cause the floor to be slippery.
We install 1-2 layers for the base coat, depending on the condition of the floor and how much the concrete absorbs the coating material. Then we install a full broadcast of vinyl flakes. Lastly, we install a UV stable, chemical resistant top coat.
Yes, we can bring in heat to help cure the floor out. Also, we use different polyaspartic commercial grade products for different applications including ones that work best in lower temperatures.
